What Is Forest Bathing?

Forest bathing, originating in Japan in 1982 and known as Shinrin-yoku, has evolved into a vital aspect of preventative medicine in Japanese culture. Forest bathing is more than just a walk in the woods, it means immersing in the forest atmosphere and taking in the forest through all of our senses. It allows individuals to pause, take a breath, and reconnect with themselves, nature and their community.

What to Expect on a Guided Forest Bathing Walk

As you join your guide, Cherianne, on a 1.5 to 3-hour journey, anticipate a leisurely-paced experience that emphasizes the art of slowing down and connecting with the natural world. The distance covered on these walks is minimal as it's not about getting to a specific destination.

Throughout the walk, you'll encounter a series of sensory-based invitations, encouraging you to engage with the forest environment through sight, hearing, touch, and more. Your guide intermittently regroups the participants, providing everyone with an opportunity to share personal stories or insights gained from their explorations. During these gatherings, there's a relaxed atmosphere with no obligation to speak.

The walk concludes with a delightful session of snacks and forest tea, often crafted from plants sourced along the trail, offering a chance for final reflections and shared moments.

Whether you're a nature enthusiast or a newcomer to forest bathing, these walks cater to everyone, offering a space for deep relaxation, connection, and self-discovery.
